Dennis Publishing to launch the Week magazine in Australia

Dennis Publishing will launch its current affairs magazine The Week in Australia, with the first issue on sale on October 31.

The magazine, which provides a weekly summary of print media, sells 150,000 copies a week in Britain and 500,000 in America.

Veteran Australian journalist David Salter will be editor-in-chief and Hall Greenland has been appointed editor of the Australian edition.

Felix Dennis, the owner and chairman of Dennis Publishing, said: "The Week is perhaps the best-read magazine on the planet. Readers adore it, become addicted to it and proselytise about it to their friends.

"Its unique blend of information, opinion and entertainment has driven its extraordinary growth in the UK and the US and I have no doubt that our Australian edition will work the same magic."

The Australian edition is the first new edition since the Week launched in the US in 2001.

It will also be distributed Singapore, Hong Kong and New Zealand and Dennis wants to publish the title in India within four years.
