Evening Standard posts 10% ABC increase

LONDON - London's Evening Standard registered a year-on-year circulation rise of nearly 10%, to sell an average of 300,330 copies in May, according to the latest ABC figures.

The paper, which is battling against Associated Newspapers-owned sister paper the London Lite, and News International-owned thelondonpaper for readers, posted a year-on-year circulation increase of 9.8% but gave away an extra 15,000 bulks in the month, from 99,7111 in April. to 115,210 copies in May.

Distribution of the London Lite and thelondonpaper were both down slightly, with the former falling by 0.21% to 401,421 copies and thelondonpaper falling down 0.13% to 500,235 copies.
Free business newspaper City AM posted a 1.85% lift to top the 100,000 copies mark, with 101,758 copies distributed last month.
Meanwhile, The Sun achieved its third straight month of year-on-year circulation growth in May, with a rise of 3.48%. Sales of the Daily Mirror, which unveiled the first stage of its redesign in April, fell by 4.55% year on year in May, to 1,483,830copies a day.
