Clark promoted to head London Paper

News International has promoted Ian Clark to managing director of the London Paper, a year after he helped to found the freesheet.
Clark was made general manager when he switched to the start-up from his position as advertising manager at Times Newspapers in the middle of 2006.
During the past year the London Paper has fought with Associated Newspaper's rival freesheet London Lite for advertising revenue and clashed over litter, recycling and readership figures.
"Ian, together with Stefano Hatfield, has successfully led the London Paper from its launch to establish the title as London's leading newspaper," said Clive Milner, group managing director of News International.
"I am sure that Ian, backed by a great team, will lead the London Paper to greater success in the future."
The promotion for Clark comes after the London Paper's hiring of two journalists from paid-for titles.
3am columnist Eva Simpson is joining from the Daily Mirror to be assistant editor .
Alexa Baracaia from the Evening Standard has been appointed arts and entertainment editor.
